International Conference on Multiscaling -Costa-Rica Oct 2019

International Conference on Mathematical Multiscale Modeling in Biology

Guanacaste, Costa Rica, October 21-24, 2019

The conference will be held at 5 star
Riu Guanacaste resort. The Hotel Riu Guanacaste (24h All Inclusive), is situated in Guanacaste, Costa Rica in a seafront location on Mata Palo Beach. The property's 5 restaurants, 5 bars/lounges and a swim-up bar. Public areas are equipped with complimentary wireless Internet access.

Modeling and simulation are rapidly becoming most important methods in modern biology. Most of these efforts are focused on single levels or scales, e.g., genomic/proteomic, cellular, organ, whole body, and population. There is a need to develop new mathematical approaches and software to integrate models from microscales to macro-scales in a seamless fashion. Such multiscale models are essential to produce quantitative, predictive models of complex biological behaviors such as development of multicellular organisms, cancer, or aging. Developing new methods to integrate between scales will lead to a much deeper understanding of the universal features of life.

The purpose of International Conference on Mathematical Multiscale Modeling in Biology is to bring together eminent scholars with expertise in various fields of mathematical modeling in application to bioinformatics, genomics and proteomics, cell and organ modeling, as well as experimentalists interested in these subjects. The scope of the proposed conference will cover many different fields, such as genetics, genomics, epigenetics, and epigenomics, protein structure, dynamics and function, protein aggregation and misfolding, interactions of proteins and nucleic acids, molecular machines, cell modeling and systems biology. The main idea discussed during the conference is how to integrate models from different scales to improve our knowledge of biology.

The early bird registration fee for speakers ($995 until August 20, 2019) includes conference fee and all-inclusive 5 days (4 nights) hotel accommodation in a 5-star resort (including all meals & drinks and social events). It includes also free wireless internet access for conference. You may bring your spouse for an extra charge $60 per day. Children ages 2-12 sharing the room with two adults cost $50 per day per child. The registration for students who share room is $800 (the special code for student registration will be provided upon request). The regular registration fee paid after August 1, 2019 is $1,195.

Refunds will NOT be issued for cancellations.  No discount is offered for late arrivals or early departures.

Conference attendees will receive a 5% discount with http://www.lartransportes.com/ for using them for the private round-trip ground transportation from the airport (LIR).  The Discount Code is POBGROUPK19.
Please contact Andrzej Kloczkowski or Karen Blosser  with any questions.

There is a possibility of either full of partial financial  support (up to $ 1,700 per person) by the National Science Foundation for grad students, postdoctoral researchers and junior faculty  based in the United States. Supported participants will have to actively participate in the conference by giving a talk or presenting a poster.  The interested individuals should  contact  Prof. Rempala (with subject CostaRica Conference) and  provide a one page financial support request justification and a short CV.  Funds will be distributed on a  first come, first served basis while they last.

Conference Chairs:
